Well for many years now Mike has found it quite enjoyable to be a pirate for Halloween. This no doubt was encouraged by Johnny Depp's portrayal. Oh, it's complete with costume..........which involves the same clothes he might wear on any given day..........AND AN EYE PATCH. So basically the eye patch apparently has the powers to turn him into a pirate. Well, in his own mind anyways. Which I guess is what Halloween is all about. (If your under 14!)
Well this year he started Halloween early. Tonight when we went to take him dinner, he had been waiting for an hour ON HIS OWN TWO FEET to be able to show off the first time walking on his own in a month!!!! Reminded me a bit of Hudson beginning to walk. He had the same proud smile on his face. He walked towards us with his hands extended, just like Frankenstein. (Just to make us laugh) Our favorite Nurse Carol was hoping this big moment would involve us running to each other in slow motion. Instead I approached him cautiously, hoping whatever wind I may stir up just by walking would not knock him over. He's lost 20 pounds in a month. Yes, some of us are jealous about that. But he didn't really have 20 pounds to spare. But like the contestants on Survivor, when he gets home to some real food.........he'll fatten up in no time.
So, after being told for two weeks to not put weight on his leg, he's now suppose to put weight on his leg. I expect he'll start doing sprints up and down the halls in no time. He's still at Sutter and don't know when his next move is yet.
